So things are getting a bit heated in the oldest of Nerd wars to make themselves feel like they are better than you cause they happen to read a lot of comic of comic books. looking at things from a outside perspective regardless of whether you are a marvel or DC fan or both and enjoy them equally cause they have different things to put on the table in terms of comics, cartoons, live action shows, video games, and one shot animated movies and both are currently owned by companies that try to have too much control on where to take things and in turn prevent writers and artists from pushing certain boundaries, but the in the aspect of movies there is a bit of a difference between success and failure in that are where as in everything else these two rival companies have been pretty even in terms of sales.

say what what you will but the things that have been a determining factor for these 2 is the way their live action movies have been handled and directed. both had some successes and fails in the past. for DC the superman and tim burton batman movies have brought in success till batman forever and batman and robin killed it for a bit with lots of "bat butt" shots. there have been a few live marvel movies and shows in the past but there wasn't what one can call successes compared to DC's movies back in the early days. upon entering the year 2000 however things began to go into the works. after being tied in terms Marvel tried their hand at making a hero movie initially sponsored by Fox and Sony if I'm not mistaken with the original spiderman trilogy and Fantastic four and the really bad Hulk movie. Spiderman having success in the first two movies with the third being kind of meh and having too much happening in one movie and fantastic 4 in both movies mmmm a little column A and a little column B. so meh at best. Hulk....just no. then DC rises to this challenge with a continuation of sorts to the 80's superman movie that wasn't bad in my opinion i actually liked that one a bit though I guess hardcore bloggers who never leave their basements had another complaint but i do agree in the complaint of superman's son that lois never told him about was a bit out there considering how careful superman would have to have been plowing her or in the comics gave her a formula that made her temporarily as strong and durable as he was or in the animated one shot of superman killed by an overdose of sun radiation Lois would give birth to his son after she gets injected with science where luthor saw the error of his ways and before his execution memorized and wrote down superman's entire genetic code. some time after that we get batman begins where it was a really good batman origin movie where the only real complaint was the handling of ras al ghul's character, and no one bothering to teach christian bale what most were looking for in how batman handles his tone of voice between being bruce wayne and batman, and the plot hole of scarecrow still running loose. can't recall if this was before or after the dark knight but we then got man of steel where like any michael bay film it looks great but many did not like snyder's direction of where he was taking superman at that point. the dark knight easily best batman movie that had come out in a long time.

now during all that we started getting more and more marvel movies but at the end of the first Ironman movie marvel decided to do something i don't think had tried to do before which seemed to work well for Japan and other countries. they set up a movie universe for the Marvel franchise which surprisingly worked and it's worth note to mention this is not to imply all marvel movies were amazing or great but now fans had something to establish and hope for an eventual avengers movie. by this point we got the dark knight rises which really hit a new low point for DC in a long while. least not since the superman 64 game. that was pretty bad. then during a long time absence Marvel pretty much had the cinematic world owned till we got the announcement of a batman vs superman movie which market wise and if handled correctly would put DC on top of Marvel again in all areas. however whether you are liked it or not that movie did not do as well as they were hoping. it did good enough to skip right into the justice league movie with a wonder woman movie on the way that looks like a prequel more than a continuation given the trailer. but before all that we had 2 movies marketed and set to race on who was gonna be top dog. Deadpool and Suicide Squad. needless to say Deadpool won out due to according to reports Ryan Reynolds refusing to do deadpool unless he can do the character the way he was meant to be which was unfiltered rated R stuff that his comics are known for. now after this success Suicide squad apparently at the last minute was doing some changes to fit the R rated category too but i think in that area is what caused suicide squad to fall apart before it even got released and while it was an interesting attempt i don't really hear too many people feeling into that version of Joker. i guess when you wanna bring iconic psychopaths from comics to life on the big screen you need more than saying you have this character you gotta be able to bring that insanity to life like people can believe it's the real thing.

yeah i skipped over a lot of other movies DC and Marvel did but those were the more known hit and misses...mostly misses. so we're down to the question where no matter how you ask it seems to be a trigger point that makes certain people go on a rampage where there can never a be middle ground. Marvel is in it's final steps to enter the Infinity war after 2017 and Justice League is set to be released this year if I'm looking at those dates correctly. realistically and given how carefully handled a majority of their movie projects have been handled Marvel is more likely to have the overall success regardless of how many justice league movies they make after this point since point A being Marvel has hinted to their eventual reaching of that point without too many changes to their casts which so far has been Hulk/Bruce Banner. for Justice League they only really had batman versus superman set up the justice league initiative but not really go into any depth about it and just expect everyone to jump into it like the new 52 movies so far. with Snyder behind DC his attempts feel more like he just skimmed a few issues of DC comics than put random parts of what he skimmed together thinking it'll work. in other words unlike marvel Snyder is making shit happen way too fast especially for those who neither interested or have the patience to read decades of comic books and multiverse aspects of the same stories. DC is known to have darker elements than Marvel but again this all comes down to Snyder in this case making things happen way too fast without any kind of proper setting or diving into character backgrounds where yes those who have been around to see the shows or read a few comics to know how most origins go for DC heroes there was at least a pace to everything that lead to an eventual justice league for that era and universe. but that's my view point when you look at the overall luck DC live action movies have had since it either comes down to poor directing or bad writing or even just a poor choice in cast that affects their overall impact and box office sales. granted Marvel movies have their fair share of similar faults such as ironman 3 and the rushed closing out of the age of ultron story arc to which most have commented on the age of ultron movie skipping over some details that were important.

with all that said that's not to say i won't check out wonder woman and justice league despite my personal thoughts that i've said since i feel i owe to myself to see if snyder can bounce back and maybe even surprise me in getting DC on even footing or better footing than what Marvel has right now which is a pretty steep hill to climb right now. for all i know there's a good chance the infinity war movies may end up failing in a certain area. it's not about which source material has the better villains or heroes it's more about how hollywood handles and let's their directors and actors deliver that level of impact that gets you excited. while it's true Thanos will lose out to Darkseid in a deathbattle setting it doesn't change the fact that Marvel can still make him feel more menacing if they handle his character properly and in DC just cause Darkseid is said to appear in the justice league movie doesn't mean it'll be amazing since snyder may not handle his character right like he did with doomsday. best example of how one handles impact is the mangaka of One Punch Man while Saitama may look bored out of his mind and doesn't take most of his battles seriously cause he's too powerful the impact of how he makes entrance when delivering a punch what grabs your attention. there's a whole lesson in concept of how to grab your consumer's and fan's attention which you may be better off learning from youtube than from me.

if you understood all that and follow what I mean then comment on your thoughts on DC and Marvel's rivalry in the movie business in how things may go for them. remember this isn't about which one is better but more of a looking at it from an objective perspective of sorts at how things may go for DC and Marvel in the coming years with these movies.

I have loved most of DC's animated stuff, their live action stuff seems to bomb constantly though. Also loved most of Marvel's movies, however after reading about the shit happening in Secret Empire I find I cannot really justify myself spending money to buy a ticket to their movies.

Regardless, all that should matter is what you enjoy. Not other people, you.

My 2 cents.
