okay as promised I am gonna try to do this review to the best of my abilities and try to cover the pros and cons of Fairy Tail in how it did in its entirety as a manga. however in doing this I guess a lot of what's said here will likely say a lot in how the anime did so far too. with that said let's get started.

Fairy Tail starts off simple enough with Lucy traveling around albeit as a runaway from home who wanted to have all the 12 golden keys and wanted to join the fairy tail guild. mainly cause of how they were glorified on the magazine by Mira if you recall that lol then you meet the hot headed mage(literally) Natsu Dragneel where after minor opponent battle is handled and Natsu wrecks the town gives Lucy a chance to join fairy tail. then blah blah blah she joins the guild after she sees for herself Fairy Tail is a lot more rowdier and crazier than she thought. where from that point on she became what's known as the straight man of all the crazy things the entire fairy tail guild does. you know the one person with common sense who has to yell about the random stuff they do.

I don't need to tell you all the story since all of you should know it well by now. even if you just watch the anime that's more than enough to give you the basic gist of fairy tail. so when it starts it's interesting it. it had all sorts of uniqueness Hiro is known to make happen in the world along with the crazy powerful characters to boot who regardless if they were good guys or bad guys all had character faults that make you laugh cause moments in the battles would be serious then someone through their character fault kills the mood cause their particular click just happened like natsu ending up on things that move and make him sick mid battle, or Erza worrying that the fan service sexy requip was too revealing and didn't want to be like Lucy lol, or in the Gray vs Juvia battle Gray had her trapped but realizes he was grabbing her boob and sets her free. so the battles regardless of how well or poorly written an arc was written were pretty epic yet also hilarious to get a good laugh out of. also regardless if they were canon based or filler based. so battles rate at a 5.

the pacing of the story of Fairy Tail was good overall there were times when Hiro moved things too quickly but it wasn't that often. I think that became more noticeable as things progressed mainly after the grand magic games since that was the longest arc to date especially if you add in the dragon invasion portion of it. pacing in the alvaerez arc aka the final arc was more or less all over the place. sometimes things were too slow other times it was too fast but mainly things happened too quickly which I will go over in a bit later. pacing rates at a 3.

the characters themselves while all were interesting and a lot of sex appeal thrown around mainly by the female cast but the male fanservice does also happen from time to time. each had a background you could dive into and get attached to or relate to for some people for some reason. each had a particular battle style that was completely their own which for a lot of action series sometimes can be hard to do especially if you got a large large large cast of characters to handle. while not all characters were as memorable as others I think overall the rating for characters gets a 4.

the theme of the series is mainly about friendship and family since all the guild members go to pretty far extremes for one another which is good but at the same time that also became it's biggest negative in how for hiro that's supposed to explain why half the stuff that happens just happened to work out. that was even more apparent in the final arc which I will cover later as this goes on. Hiro stuck with this theme right down to the finale but I don't think he took time to consider how friendship and family can and will change over time for people in terms of how relationships build and change and even mature as time progresses forward. so we'll kind of that as a 3 for rating.

death tolls in a series are a crucial part to anything. it's not how many you put in it's how you handle them and execute them effectively that can impact your story positively or negatively and for Hiro this played out negatively. while yes there have been a few deaths in fairy tail however for whatever reason Hiro felt like it would be a good idea to resolve people's issues of death by retconning said deaths and the first one to start this is Lisanna. I think there was supposed to be a plan in bringing back Lisanna but that's another thing to talk about in a bit but that is mainly where it starts when you look back cause after that Jellal is brought back from the dead with no literal limitations or consequence or even a curse for being brought back from the dead since that's supposed to be a taboo kind of spell or something to which if there's no consequence why even make bring the dead back to life a taboo spell to begin with. but you see where I'm going with this cause this happens repeatedly. we get a teased or presumed dead character only to be brought back by unorthodox means or surviving through some unlikely methods. this was even apparent in final arc which has been brought up repeatedly nearly the entire arc. so with hiro and his handling of deaths in the series this is literally a rating of 1.

plots and logic. this is something heavily crucial cause in Fairy Tail's 11 years of being run on paper and tv the issue that's always brought up is Hiro having a decent or promising plot development but half the time he doesn't do anything with it which ties into Lisanna being brought back where you'd think there'd be something added in as a subplot of sorts in the grand scheme of things but in the end no we got nothing. it's not just those points either. half the time a whole situation and battle ends up being resolved simply cause they fight for their "friends". okay great but how else do you win a battle? I mean even Kishimoto for all his faults in Naruto had a plan set up to beat an atagonist before he went into the war arc where you show both emotion, guts, and using a trick to one's ability to turn the battle around and even just exploiting an opponents weakness. one case and point is Natsu fighting the fire god slayer where Natsu couldn't eat the flames at first cause as he was told he can't but then he somehow manages to do it by forcing himself to eat it or something which is a what the hell kind of logic even for Fairy Tail. while that can be added in to Natsu being END but you can't really say that justifies it since as seen in the final arc Hiro didn't have that whole thing planned out. so this portion goes into a 2 rating.

now these last ones are probably the most important ones. The Arcs for starters, while yes all the arcs and what they were about were great and had their share of faults to be sure but the final arc which also ties into the next bit is meant to bring about a close to everything to a decent extent. this final arc had a great set up and what promised to be something where the characters were going to end up losing something important to them or experience something that would change their outlook on life which plays into my complaint on the final chapter. but let's start here. we got 12 OP wizards known as the spriggan with Zeref being one of them. these 12 or rather these 11 wizards are supposed to be the best of the best and the elite of the elite. especially since one of their 12 was God Serena of the 10 wizard saints who was of course a Dragon Slayer of 10 elements which could have made for a epic battle had acknologia not interefered where even when brought back from the dead Gildarts should not have had an easy time fighting someone like that since Dragon Slayers are shown to be tough son of a bitches to deal with let alone kill in one shot where on top of that God Serena had 10 elements in which to boost his power. even the fact Natsu had nephew demon should have been something to look forward to since according to Zeref his power was meant to surpass Natsus which was not seen nor was it explored in how or why. at best only Eileen and August brought what was promised of the 12 spriggan but even then they were pretty short lived. that was the beginning of what would be Hiro's complete downfall in Fairy Tail in where he did not deliver in bringing in the 12 who should have been literally out of Fairy Tail's league but managed to pull a win after going through extreme hell to win. next problem is the constant teased deaths in this arc alone. I mean for christs sake even Ultear was somehow alive and it was hinted would die cause of she reversed time by a whole 60 seconds then Makarov being brought back from the dead after he clearly used up all his life energy and why would you tell an old man to live his life when he has at most only like what a year maybe 3 years left? next problem was the downplay of END and what should have been Natsu and Grays biggest fight but you saw what happened. the final battle with Acknologia while not really as epic as one would expect but it ended about as well as could be expected cause as I said before in my review in chapter 544 at least hiro left some kind of set for the main cast to actually beat the final antagonist who was essentially invincible and had no weaknesses like Madara. actually same can be said for Cell in DBZ but anyway at least Hiro ended it on a kind of note that should be too surprising but could have been better over simply adding in a random final opponent no one was expecting out of the blue.

now here's where all that leaves a problem for chapter 545. no this isn't about the pairings since most were confirmed while Lazus is presumed to be a playboy who switches girls between mira, lisanna, and cana and NaLu I don't know guys a lot of have so many interpretations that it's ridiculous none of can agree on whether or not nalu is confirmed so I'm leaving that out. anyway the overall problem with Fairy Tail's final chapter is they went through a war albeit a very weak war at that and yet nothing that happened was something to impact them or have them realize not to take certain things for granted where Hiro believes that after you go to war you basically don't experience any personal changes of any sort. things were just back to normal. literally. this was brought up by a few people in how going through a world ending war did not impact them in ways that would be expected. I mean again in kishimoto's attempt with Naruto even if they don't talk about it's at least shown to a certain degree how the last war impacted the Naruto cast after it was all over while still managing to move with their lives but I guess that's what happens when Hiro literally left no real consquences for the Fairy Tail cast to suffer from in this war.

so overall how did Fairy Tail do in the end? well it had a strong beginning, interesting story and humor, built up nicely, had memorable characters where despite faults and whatever I rate it as we're all gonna remember for a few years. this rating is only for the manga. the only reason why I brought up the anime is cause this basically does cover similar pros and cons on the anime but the anime has yet to finish the story so we'll wait till most likely 2019 to find out how the anime rates compared to the manga. so the Fairy Tail manga in it's entirety gets a 3.5 out of 5. like I said it had a lot of good points but it's important for anyone looking to do this as a career or just do fanfics or doujins in mind that no matter how strong or weak your beginning is if you make a weak ending or even a weak final arc the overall impact of the story is gonna suffer it and that's exactly what happened here for Fairy Tail. while Hiro says he still has plans for Fairy Tail he as not specified as to what he means by that so those plans will be treated as separate projects to the main story for me to review. and the other thing that probably impacted this rated for me to give it a 3.5 out of 5 is the obvious fact Hiro really took his trolling tendencies too far in this final arc.

so there you have it. a 3.5 out of 5. if you have thoughts about the series that should also be addressed or if you have an agreement or disagreement then put it all in the comments below cause I know everyone has something they wanna say about Fairy Tail in its entirety.

I have never been a fairy tail guy, but man 545 chapters is such an odd number to end on.
